Alcoa Howmet, LaPorte and Warrick Operations Named Lugar Energy Patriots

Alcoa Howmet, LaPorte and Alcoa Warrick Operations are the 36th recipients of the Lugar Energy Patriot award, because of their work on educating Alcoa employees and students in their local communities through Make an Impact programs.

In the fall of 2010, the Alcoa facilities joined forces with the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions to conduct employee workshops about reducing their carbon footprint and being more energy efficient. Employees used a carbon calculator to determine just how much energy they were consuming and in what areas they could cut back their energy usage at home.  This inspired many Alcoa employees to promote energy saving habits in their personal lives.

Alcoa also participated in the Make an Impact: Change Our 2Morrow Schools' Challenge, a nation-wide competition, which helped teach greater communities about sustainability and energy conservation.
