The Make an Impact program is dedicated to providing Alcoa locations with resources to encourage energy efficiency. The “Top 5 Tips” awareness campaign was created to educate employees about easy ways to save energy and money at work. The campaign will include light switch stickers, table tents and posters with tips and relaying the message that when it comes to energy efficiency and protecting the environment, everyone can make an impact.
This December, Alcoa Brazil will launch a program aimed at mobilizing employees to take action to save energy and protect the planet."Economize O Planeta" is the Brazilian counterpart to Make an Impact, a program that began in Australia and is now operating in nearly 30 Alcoa offices and facilities in the United States. The program, completely in Portuguese, will include a website featuring local resources and energy-saving facts and tips specific to Brazil. A custom-built carbon calculator will allow employees to identify opportunities to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions through simple actions they can take at home or in their communities.
On November 6-7th, around 100 employees gathered for the official launch of the Make an Impact program at Alcoa’s TRACO facility in Cranberry Township, PA. The introduction of the Make an Impact program to Cranberry’s employees is the latest in a series of ‘green’ events for the facility; earlier this year, Cranberry hosted an Earth Day Fair to kick off Green Works and introduced their first ever formalized recycling program. The Alcoa TRACO facility is on track to achieve almost a 7% improvement in energy efficiency over the past year.
