Make an Impact at 30 Alcoa Locations … and Counting!

On November 6-7th, around 100 employees gathered for the official launch of the Make an Impact program at Alcoa’s TRACO facility in Cranberry Township, PA. The introduction of the Make an Impact program to Cranberry’s employees is the latest in a series of ‘green’ events for the facility; earlier this year, Cranberry hosted an Earth Day Fair to kick off Green Works and introduced their first ever formalized recycling program.  The Alcoa TRACO facility is on track to achieve almost a 7% improvement in energy efficiency over the past year.

The Make an Impact program is a joint program of Alcoa Foundation and the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) and is designed to give Alcoans the tools and resources to become more energy efficient at home and save money.  The launch included five workshops over two days, and provided employees with a wealth of information on energy efficiency. Participants enjoyed refreshments provided by a local sustainable caterer, earned prizes, and learned how they can win a $250 gift card to Home Depot.

Through the program, employees have access to a custom built calculator, website with local resources and information aimed at helping them and their families take action to save energy and save money on monthly utility bills. The Cranberry event marks the program’s 30th launch in the U.S.
